(Cola vera) (or Cola nitada)

The seeds of the Kola tree supply the flavouring of the world's most popular soft drink. Kola is a stimulant that is often prescribed for overall mental fatigue or depression.

It is also used to treat diarrhoea caused by nervousness; headaches; motion sickness; and loss of appetite.

The herb may also open the bronchial passages, helping asthmatics to breathe more easily. The potent ingredient in Kola is caffeine, the same substance which is in coffee.

How It May Benefit You...

  • depression

  • migraine headaches

  • poor appetite

  • diarrhoea caused by nervousness

  • motion sickness

  • fluid retention

  • respiratory problems such as asthma. (Take internally.)

If you are sensitive to caffeine, Kola may be too strong a stimulant for you. If you feel nervous or have trouble sleeping, decrease your dose or stop taking Kola.

Individuals with diabetes, insomnia, anxiety disorders, digestive disorders, chronic high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, or a history of strokes should not use Kola.

If you are pregnant you should check with your Doctor before using Kola, since it contains caffeine.
